In the 21st Century Marketplace, whether you are the CEO of a large conglomerate or a solopreneur in the consulting and helping industries, it is no longer enough–it has become inadequate–to be cognitively developed alone without developing other areas. Being smart or insightful is critical–but you now need more than that in the 21st Century Marketplace. This uneven development is becoming obvious and opdious in many in other domains as well. Most noticeably in the seeming division between spiritual and material. So many people want to be “spiritual” yet they resist mastering this plane–the world we live in. They want to fly before they learn to walk.

This generally shows up in two ways:

  • The individual who is highly spiritually aware and/or developed, yet lacks business acumen and is usually deeply conflicted about money and wealth
  • The skilled business person who is lacking in spiritual development and/or awareness and conscientiousness around the impact their actions have–and is usually deeply conflicted as well

Both are common; the former more than the latter, but the latter gets more press. Neither is inevitable. Both are easily resolved. And in fact, the new marketplace is beginning to demand it.

In the new marketplace you need to come from a grounding of service and contribution while possessing the skills to leverage those you are helping beyond their limitations. You need to be able to negotiate, motivate, and inspire. You need to manage your own mind and emotions, know yourself, and understand others. You need to be spiritual–whatever that may mean to you–and you need to be effective and to sell and market effectively. And you will be challenged to do all of those things to truly thrive in the marketplace.
